recently i accompanied a friend on the hunt.
we waited in a raised hide for deers.
we watched them coming out to the clearing, playing, grazing. then he shot one.
it was dead at once. the other mates didn't even get its death and continued grazing, only briefly disturbed by the shot. after a short while we went to the clearing to pick up the dead animal. i watched it and thought about what i saw.
it was not anymore a living being.
what makes a living being more than the sum of its biological components?
what makes us one-of-a-kind?
where is the relation of the soul to the body?
when does a living being become a mere body?
